Image of a pig In the Fall of 1995, the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at North Carolina State University in conjunction with the community colleges began a pilot project. The goal of this project was to make selected courses offered in the NCSU Agricultural Institute available to producers and community colleges via videotape and the internet. The second course in this project is ANS 061: Swine Production. This is the initial course in a two part series in the Agricultural Institute. The course is primarily taught by Dr. Billy Flowers (Animal Science). In Swine Production the principles of managing swine enterprises are studied. Areas included are organization, selection, reproduction. feeding, health, equipment and marketing; in addition, an intensive, three part series on artificial insemination will be covered.
