Teaching Arena and Classroom Complex
1. Classroom (capacity approximately 40 students) - heated and air conditioned with a central folding divider - restrooms
2. Arena (capacity approximately 150 students) - curtain sided with natural ventilation and fans - pens for holding animals for teaching, surrounding a central concrete-floored area
Office Complex
1. Office Complex - main office - conference room with sink, microwave and refrigerator - restrooms
2. Student apartments for 4 students
3. Change area - coverall and boot storage - clothes washer and dryer
Intensive Research Complex
1. Surgery - 4 pre-operative pens and 4 post-operative pens - electric animal hoist leading to aseptic surgery room with surgery prep area - surgery and pre- and post-operative rooms are heated and air conditioned

2. Work area and wet lab - walk-in cooler and storage closet - flexible animal work area - fume hood, centrifuge and bench space
3. Research holding area (capacity 95 to 110 animals) - 36 individual stalls - 8 pens (4' x 9') - 7 pens (6' x 9') - heated and naturally ventilated, flush under slat
4. Metabolism rooms - air conditioned and heated - flexible pen sizes - 12 polyvinyl metabolism crates for total fecal and urine collections
Breeding and Gestation Complex
1. Breeding building (capacity approximately 30 boars and 118 females) - 48 individual stalls for weaned sows with 2 boar pens in center - 14 group pens for gilts and sows - 13 group pens for boars - 4 breeding pens with block walls - flush under slat with natural and fan ventilation
2. Gestation building (capacity approximately 262 females) - 170 individual stalls - 19 group pens - flush under slat with natural and fan ventilation - automatic feeding system for stalls
3. Central work area connecting the two buildings - semen collection area slats - storage - work room with hot water and sink
Farrowing Complex
1. Farrowing rooms - 8 rooms with 12 elevated crates per room plus a middle work area in each room - each room has individual heating, evaporative cooling and adjacent rooms share a flush system - lights on timers and rooms equipped with red lights for sampling during dark
2. Wash room - warm-water wash for sows before movement to farrowing rooms
3. Central hallway - larger than usual for teaching purposes
Nursery Complex
1. Nursery rooms - 8 rooms with 12 full-litter or 24 half-litter pens - each room has individual ventilation - adjacent rooms share a common flush system, separated from all other rooms
2. Central hallway - larger than usual for teaching purposes - automatic medicator designed for each half-room
3. Service building for nursery and farrowing - multiple gravity-flow bins for nursery trials (to be added) - central pressure wash system - tool room and tool storage
Growing, Finishing and Nutrition Complex

1. Finishing building (capacity approximately 438 pigs) - 73 group pens (6 pigs each) for multiple pen replicates for feeding trials - flush under slat - natural and fan ventilation - automatic feeding system with two loops
2. Grower and nutrition building (capacity approximately 488 pigs) - 34 individual pens for nutrition trials - 57 group pens (8 pigs each) for multiple pen replicates for feeding trials - pit recharge or flush under slat - natural and fan ventilation - automatic feeding system with one loop
3. Central service area - work area for special measurements and for teaching
Swine Feed Mill Complex
1. Mixer and mill - medium capacity computerized mill for experimental diets - multiple bin storage for micro nutrients and unusual ingredients
2. Storage bins and delivery - 2 to 4 month capacity for main ingredients - feed will be delivered to bins, feeding will be done by automatic systems or with electric carts with load-cells and microcomputer controlled delivery
